Panfacial fracture operations are highly complex, given the very delicate nature of the reconstructive process. One of the benefits of virtual planning is being able to study bone structure movements within those fractures. With virtual surgical movements, defects can be corrected and positioning splints designed to make a surgeon’s work easier. Fully personalised plates are designed based on the planning.
Using data taken from the patient’s CAT scan or .STL files, AVINENT Digital Health can design an implant that fits perfectly to the orbit’s topographic characteristics, irrespective of the situation. This process enables the precise reconstruction of the defects, even when there are significant parietal fractures on both sides of the head. Using 3D models for designing the plate is essential. Particular focus is placed on the orbits and their complicated geometric forms.
Studying surgical movements is very helpful in orthognathic surgery in order to predict the changes that the soft tissues will undergo. Through studying and preparing the virtual osteotomy, AVINENT Digital Health obtains the exact direction of the cut to create a surgical guide that the dental professional will use to guide their operation. When the planning and design is complete, the surgeon receives a detailed report on every process specification for their approval. A dental prosthesis is designed for each case, with subsequent planning of the implants that fit onto the fibula, before they are subsequently placed on the mandible.
